About this blog

The renowned Dutch art magazine jongHolland, established in 1984, was discontinued in 2007 due to lack of funding. Since then a 'think tank' of young art historians has been working on the relaunch of the magazine as an international digital platform for scholarly research on Dutch modern art and visual culture. With this blog they report on their progress. You will find the new mission for jongHolland, posts about related topics, a frequent and frank update of the progress - successes and problems alike - of making a digital platform, a calendar of important events etc. In this way, the think tank hopes to involve others in the creation of a new jongHolland. It is by no means representative for the future digital platform - it is conceived as a sort of diary for the "making of".

What we have: a new mission, a zillion ideas, the people and expertise, the support of the (Dutch) art historical field, the essays and articles of more than two decades old jongHolland

What we miss: financial support to launch the platform, structural funding, the design and structure of the platform, international reputation, pr and communication, content to start the platform, peer-reviewers, a webeditor

What are we doing now: talking to possible sponsors, funds, publishers and designers; studying international copyright; structuring the peer-review system; persuading Dutch universities to give their staff also credits for online publishing besides the traditional media; brainstorming about the first content for the platform.
